Dr. Shira Taylor

“I am most present when I listen to and engage with world and when I am in stillness. Presence is in the chirping of the birds, and the movement of leaves, in the smile of a child and the excitement of a puppy. Presence is in meditation, movement, song, and laughter. I am present now.” ~C0-founder and Executive Director of O.N.E.

Shira Taylor was born and raised in Toronto but considers the world to be her home. She has travelled and volunteered extensively including trips to Afghanistan, Bosnia, many Caribbean countries, Ethiopia, India, Israel, Jordan, Nepal, Oman, the Palestinian Territories, Turkey etc.  Her professional training initially began in social documentary photography. She then studied Global development, Peace and Justice through the Department of Environmental Studies at York University and followed this with her medical degree and residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Toronto. Since then she has pursued further training as a yoga instructor and brings her passion for healing, yoga and meditation to her medical practice through the Minding Your Inner Monkey workshop series for people struggling with depression and anxiety.

Shira lives by the teaching:

“Love is the path.
Start the day with love.
Spend the day with love.
fill the day with love.
End the day with love.
This is the way to God.”
~Sathya Sai Baba

There is nothing that gives her more pleasure than to see those around her grow in self-confidence and simply be their full creative, unique selves.
